Associate Spotlight: Hillary Stalker

A registered representative, Hillary Stalker believes that mentorship, leading by example, and letting your passion fuel you are three elements for success in the financial industry. Hillary hopes to pave the way for other women to become interested in finance and loves what the career has to offer. As a talented representative, Hillary’s primary goal is to understand her clients’ lives and their dreams so that she can help them reach their highest potential. This spotlight explores a few details about Hillary’s background, career, and personal life.

Hillary’s Background

Hillary Stalker was born in Atlanta but raised most of her life in the Chicago suburbs in a tight-knit, entrepreneurial family of four. A graduate of Iowa State University, Hillary has a career background in client relationships, sales, marketing, and a passion for helping people. This background eventually led her to the financial services industry, where she spent several years advising clients in insurance and risk management at a financial services firm in Naperville, Illinois.

How Hillary Came to Southwestern Investment Group

While looking for a new career opportunity to grow as an advisor and as part of a team, Hillary joined Southwestern Investment Group in 2020, which also afforded her family the opportunity to achieve their dream of relocating to Franklin, Tennessee. The Deering Wealth Team felt like a perfect fit from the start of the interview process and has made the transition to a new place, both in work and home life, feel effortless.

What Hillary Loves About Her Role

As a registered representative, Hillary finds nothing more fulfilling than watching her clients work toward goals and achieve them successfully. Her favorite part of working on the Deering Wealth Team is meeting people and truly getting to know her clients and their stories.

Hillary’s role is to provide additional expertise in risk management while helping clients further understand all the tools they can utilize in maximizing their financial and retirement goals. Above all, Hillary is always looking to grow within the industry and is currently practicing what she preaches by setting industry designation goals to continually improve her service to her team and clients.

It’s Hillary’s dream to help pave the way for more young women to join the financial advising world and to lead by example for the little girls in her life. Hillary feels extremely blessed to have landed a role on the Deering Wealth Team, and she’s incredibly excited to meet and serve clients.

Hillary’s Advice to Others Considering a Career in Finance

Benefitting from mentor relationships herself, Hillary suggests that aspiring financial professionals lean into mentorship and lead by example. “Having a mentor is essential to learning this industry inside and out. It may not provide a rapid-fire start, but what it does do is provide a lifelong career of success,” Hillary advised.

“If there is one thing I wish I would’ve learned sooner, it’s that I wish I knew then that I didn’t have to force myself to play small. I know I have worked to earn my seat at the table, and I hope I can help set an example for the next generation of young women coming into this industry,” she added.

Hillary’s Joys in Her Personal Life

When she’s not in the office, you can find Hillary spending time with her family and friends—especially her husband, Atlee, and their two children, Paxton (“Pax”) and Ezra (“Ezzie”). She is extremely excited to finally live close to her sister, who has been in Nashville for the last four years. Hillary loves to travel, listen to live music, do anything design related, and play outside with her babies. She and her family are enjoying all that Middle Tennessee has to offer and are settling in quickly to the new place they call home.
